Caring for your gowN
Tips for Your event
A little preparation before your wedding day or event can help protect your gown and allow you to fully enjoy every moment. We recommend preparing a small emergency kit with a few simple essentials to help manage unexpected marks or spills.
Prepare aN Emergency Kit
BABY POWDER
A small amount of baby powder can be useful for absorbing fresh oily marks that may occur during the day. Gently apply the powder to the affected area and allow it to absorb before carefully removing any excess.
GENTLE BABY WIPES
Baby wipes can be helpful for quickly removing small marks or light soiling that may occur while celebrating. Please be mindful that some delicate fabrics may show a temporary watermark after using any moisture-based product. However, addressing a mark promptly is often preferable to allowing a stain to set, and professional dry cleaning afterwards will assist in restoring your gown.
SODA WATER
For red wine spills, we recommend asking your venue to have soda water available as part of their wedding day emergency supplies. Soda water can help dilute and lift a fresh spill before it sets. As with any liquid treatment, it may leave a temporary watermark on certain fabrics, so professional cleaning as soon as possible afterwards is recommended.
Always treat your gown gently and avoid rubbing delicate fabrics, lace, beading or embellishment. The aim is to minimise the impact of a mark until your gown can receive professional care.
Throughout Your Wedding Day / event
Allow plenty of time to dress carefully, especially if your gown features buttons, lace-up details, corsetry or delicate embellishment.
Ensure hands are clean when handling your gown to protect delicate fabrics and handcrafted details.
Apply makeup, perfume and hairspray before putting on your gown, allowing products to dry fully beforehand. Cover your face with a change scarf as you put your dress on.
Ask your photographer to capture the beautiful details of your gown, including lace, beading and finishing touches.
Lift your skirt gently when moving outdoors or through busy areas.
Take care around jewellery, handbags, chairs and abrasive surfaces that may catch delicate fabrics.
Ensure you sit on a soft surface like a pillow so that beads do not catch and break.
If your gown features a train, bustle or detachable pieces, ask a trusted person to assist you throughout the day. and ensure you use the loop up buttons on your train.
Most importantly, wear your gown with confidence walk tall and enjoy every moment of wearing something created especially for you.
Your Gwendolynne gown is a piece of wearable artistry, created with care, craftsmanship and intention. With thoughtful care and preservation, it can remain a beautiful reminder of your wedding day or event for generations to come.
Most importantly, we want you to enjoy every beautiful moment. A mark on your gown can be cared for afterwards, but the joy, emotions and memories of the day are precious and fleeting. With a little preparation, you can let go of worry, be fully present and celebrate the incredible experience of wearing a gown created especially for you.
