MADE TO order

Made to Order Wedding Dresses Australia & Worldwide

Experience Gwendolynne Couture From Anywhere

Not located in Melbourne? We welcome brides from across Australia and around the world who connect with the beauty, craftsmanship and timeless elegance of a Gwendolynne wedding gown.

Our Fitzroy atelier is where we love meeting brides in person, however selected Gwendolynne designs are available through our Made to Order service, allowing you to experience our signature handcrafted couture process from wherever you are.

With almost three decades of experience creating bespoke bridal gowns, I personally guide each bride through the process of selecting a design, understanding fit, choosing fabrics and colours, arranging measurements and creating a gown that feels uniquely yours.

Whether you are an interstate bride, an international bride, or simply unable to visit our Melbourne bridal atelier, we would love to help bring your dream wedding dress to life.

How Our Made to Order Process Works

Virtual Consultation

Your journey begins with a personal virtual appointment via Zoom, FaceTime or telephone.

I believe the beauty of couture is the relationship between designer and bride. In a world increasingly filled with automated experiences, I love that we can still create something personal, thoughtful and made by real hands.

During your 30minute appointment we will discuss:

• Your wedding dress vision
• The silhouette and details that suit you best
• Fabrics, lace, colours and finishing touches
• Your measurements and any individual fit considerations

My goal is to make the process feel authentic, collaborative and connected despite that we are working together from afar.

What You Will Need For Your Virtual Appointment

Before your appointment, please prepare:

• A tape measure
• A fitted singlet or tank top
• A bra that creates the bust shape you prefer (if wearing one)
• A photograph of yourself
• Inspiration images of gowns, details or colours you love

Your initial measurements which I will require prior to the appointment include:

• Bust
• Cup size
• Waist
• High hip
• Seat (widest part of your hips/bottom)
• Height including your wedding shoes (or shoe height separately)

It is also helpful to share any details about your figure, including areas you would like to highlight, soften or accommodate, as this helps me guide your design with your individual shape in mind.

Additional Measurements

Depending on your chosen gown, we may require further measurements such as:

• Side neck point to floor
• Waist to floor
• Centre back neck to waist
• Bust depth and neckline placement
• Back neckline measurements

I can guide you through these measurements and explain exactly how they should be taken as it can be dependent on the design you choose..

I’m always happy to assist and ensure your measurements are as accurate as possible before your gown is created.

Choosing Your Colour

& Fabrics

Colour can be difficult to judge through photographs as lighting, screens and photography can alter the appearance of fabrics.

Before creating your gown, we will send fabric swatches where possible so you can experience the colours in person.

We also love seeing the colours and references that inspire you. If there is a particular shade, mood or detail you are drawn to, please send through images. These references help us understand your vision and explore what is possible.

Fit, Alterations & Finishing

Because Made to Order gowns created remotely do not include in-person fittings at our Melbourne atelier, we carefully allow additional fabric within the seams to provide flexibility for local alterations.

Once your gown arrives, you may need adjustments such as:

• Strap adjustments
• Neckline or clasp adjustments
• Hemming
• Final steaming and pressing

We always leave hems generous, allowing your gown to be altered to the perfect length once you have your wedding shoes.

Many brides also love using the remaining fabric from their hem as a sentimental detail, such as wrapping their bouquet.

We recommend allowing approximately 6 to 8 weeks before your wedding for local alterations and final preparation.

Lead Times

Our standard Made to Order timeframe is approximately:

6 to 8 months for gown creation, plus alteration time at your end.

For international brides, we recommend allowing approximately 9 months or more before your wedding date where possible.

However, depending on the design, season and our studio schedule, we may be able to accommodate shorter timeframes.

Our Gwendolynne White collection may also be suitable for brides seeking:

• A shorter production timeframe
• A more accessible price point
• A design with an easier fit

Please contact us to discuss your wedding date and requirements.

Shipping Worldwide

We carefully package and arrange shipping of your gown from our Melbourne atelier.

International brides should be aware that additional costs such as customs duties, taxes, insurance and import fees vary between countries and are the responsibility of the purchaser.

We recommend researching these costs before ordering so there are no unexpected surprises.

Our studio can discuss shipping options, insurance and delivery arrangements with you during your consultation.

Alternative Couture Pieces

For brides who love the Gwendolynne aesthetic but already have a gown, our handmade couture boleros and bridal separates offer another way to incorporate our signature craftsmanship.

Designed as investment pieces, many of these creations can be worn again beyond your wedding day.
