The Art of Timeless Design: Behind the Scenes at PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2026

A runway is a moment where a garment can become a legacy.

Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of presenting at PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2026, a celebration not only of new ideas in fashion, but of the importance of creativity, craftsmanship and the stories held within clothing.

For the show, we brought together new creations alongside archival Gwendolynne pieces from across my 29 years of designing.

The intention was simple.

To show that truly considered design does not disappear when a season ends.

It evolves.

A Living Archive of Craftsmanship

Over almost three decades, our atelier has created gowns for weddings, celebrations and moments that become part of people’s personal histories.

Each piece begins with an idea, but its life continues long after it leaves our studio.

The archival gowns shown on the runway were a reminder that beautiful design can transcend time.

A silhouette created years ago can still feel relevant.

A handmade detail can still capture attention.

A carefully chosen fabric can still tell a story.

This is the essence of slow fashion.

The Future of Fashion Is Rooted in the Past

Fashion is often driven by what is new, but the most meaningful pieces are often those that remain.

At Gwendolynne, we believe longevity is part of luxury.

Creating a garment slowly, thoughtfully and with intention allows it to become more than an outfit.

It becomes a keepsake.

A piece of artistry.

A memory you can return to.

Behind the Scenes

These beautiful behind the scenes images by @dancasto capture the moments that happen before the lights, music and runway.

The final adjustments.

The textures.

The movement.

The quiet concentration behind every look.

They reveal the part of fashion that is often unseen: the craftsmanship, collaboration and care that brings a garment to life.

Almost Three Decades of Making

As we continue creating from our Melbourne atelier, we remain inspired by the same values that began this journey.

Individuality.

Beauty.

Craftsmanship.

And the belief that clothing should have a story.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the Gwendolynne story over the years.

The past shapes the future, and we are honoured to continue creating pieces designed to be loved for generations.
