KELVIN CLUB

A PLACE WITH HISTORY, HEART & CHARACTER

KELVIN CLUB WEDDING EDITORIAL

Some venues are beautiful.

Others tell stories.

The Kelvin Club is one of those rare Melbourne places that holds over 150 years of history within its walls while feeling remarkably warm, welcoming and alive today. It was an absolute privilege for Gwendolynne to be invited to collaborate with our friends at the Kelvin Club on a recent editorial celebrating weddings and events within this nostalgically wonderful space full of heritage.

As someone who has spent many evenings there over the years, this collaboration felt especially meaningful.

I've celebrated milestone birthdays, attended elegant balls, danced the night away at club events and simply enjoyed a glass of wine with friends in the downstairs bar. Every visit reminds me why I've always loved the space so much.

There is something about the Kelvin Club that feels like stepping into an old country home tucked away in the heart of Melbourne. The grand Chesterfield sofas invite long conversations, while the beautifully divided rooms allow every guest to find their own rhythm. Some gather on the dance floor, others retreat to quieter corners where conversations stretch long into the evening.

In today's world, so many venues feel open, busy and loud. The Kelvin Club offers something increasingly rare, a sense of intimacy and soul. Every room has its own personality and every space encourages genuine connection.

Of course, beautiful buildings are only part of what makes a memorable experience.

Founded in 1865, the Kelvin Club has evolved alongside Melbourne itself. Originally established as the Fitzroy Bowling Club before becoming the Kelvin Club in 1927, the building has lived many lives, from an early broadcasting studio to the private members' club it is today. That rich history gives every wedding a sense of permanence and authenticity that cannot be manufactured.

Rather than feeling like a traditional function venue, the Club feels lived in. Loved. Elegant without pretension.

For couples seeking a sophisticated city wedding, the Kelvin Club offers something wonderfully different. Whether it's an intimate cocktail celebration, a second wedding, or a beautifully curated gathering with family and friends, every event feels deeply personal. The Ballroom brings timeless grandeur, while spaces such as the Downstairs Bar and the President's Room offer warmth, character and flexibility for celebrations of every size.

The people behind the Kelvin Club have always made us feel incredibly welcome. Their warmth and generosity create an atmosphere that guests remember long after the event itself.

It was also wonderful to work alongside dear longtime friends including the incredibly talented creative director and stylist Ty Henschke, whose vision brought this editorial together so beautifully. Featuring our Marissa, Asch, Goddess gowns.

At Gwendolynne, we believe the setting should complement the story of the couple. Our gowns are designed to become part of meaningful moments, and places like the Kelvin Club provide the perfect backdrop, where craftsmanship, history and heartfelt hospitality come together naturally.

We are incredibly grateful to the Kelvin Club for inviting us to be part of their family and beautiful collaboration and proud to continue celebrating Melbourne's unique heritage alongside such passionate creatives.

We hope this editorial inspires couples looking for a wedding venue that is elegant, welcoming and unmistakably Melbourne.
